Well, that's without a better name for them...

These have been growing on this particular rock and one other rock almost since I setup the tank back in mid-January. They grow slowly, but the biggest has grown to almost 1.5" since then. They seem to have a little fuzzy "hair" all around the last half-inch or so. They aren't totally stiff, as I can see them slightly wiggle around in the current, and just yesterday it looks like one broke at the base, but is hanging on still. They don't seem to be spreading any.

Any ideas? :hmm5:

I had these when I first started one of my tanks. They most likely will disappear. I believe they are calcium based macro o some sort.

Great, thanks everybody! Will do some research on that when I get home... It's been intriguing me because I've never seen these on any of the "ID this" threads. They give the new tank a little bit of color so I've left them alone.

Thanks! :)

Well, guess I'll leave it as long as it will stay there. From what I can find, it doesn't hurt anything other than using a little bit of calcium, which I don't have a high demand for at this point anyways. I've actually found threads from some people who had big outbreaks of it in their tanks, but mine doesn't seem to spread at all, so I'm not too worried about it.
