So i have a regular 30 gallon tank and this was my first real " reef " tank i have had it has been up for about 3-5 months and has been a learning experience. the tank has been some what successful but has also been a pain to deal with some stuff that a first time around build would have along with all the DIY thrown into the equation too. so i was trolling through the nano build forums and came across a 30 gallon deep blue nano build by Darth Wander http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2096312&page=3and i have seen these tanks in my LFS and always liked them but never thought of getting one so the current tank was taking up needed room in my room and closest due to the way i have DIYed the sump, so this is more of a face lift kind of thing i will be converting from a standard 30 gallon to a rimless 30 gallon deep blue of course, and will do everthig the right wat and get will be using some of the best equipment i can get and fund but also use some stuff from the current set up.

Equipment:

Lights: DIY rapid leds
skimmer: NC rated for 65 gallons
Pump: mag 5 return for return
tank:deep blue 30 gallon rimless
Flow: something hydor do not know what do to it looking award on the side of an wide open tank suggestions
10 gallon sump
tank controller: have no decided what brand to get suggestions?

Hi I think the rimless is an excellent idea. As far as lighting I would actully buy led fixture instead of diy(you want to do it right). Also go to www.marinedepot.com they have $75 contollers and comes with 2 power heads. & they are still a great brand. Also if you don't have a skimmer you will need one :)

the lenses focus the light down into the tank more, the angle of lens used depends on how high off the top of the tank you want your light to be, if you use tight angle lenses on a low hanging light(12in or less) you will get a spoty effect and the colors won't blend well

I plan on have them not to high not to low, right in the middle for nice growing and a better look kinda like Darths lights look legit

Woah!!!!!!!!!!!!! really was slacking on this build but now that my lacrosse season is coming to a end i have time to work on this build. started on the stand and all i have to do is do a little more staining and some touch up and its done. I started to think about the sump area and plumping so i drew something up but my mac decided to take a nose dive off my desk and crack its screen:headwally: so i had to resort to paint... http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/uu252/ikillsuckers3343/sump.jpg
