OK so when you buy a container to store your SW and from what i've seen most people recommend the Brute from Home Depot. What do i use to clean one for the first time? Thanks

RO/DI water if you ask me. That way, you don't have to worry about what is in your tap water at home.

so just plain water? I don't have to worry about any residues in the actual bin when i buy it?

My routine would be a vinegar wash/rinse then a quick bleach wash/rinse.

you just need to rinse it out, not clean it. tap water is fine as long as you dump out as much as possible. and make sure you get the grey cans.

I did buy the grey one. So i'll just clean it with plain water and a clean sponge. I don't have to worry about any chemicals in the container, is this correct?

Dont use a sponge no such thing as a clean sponge even from the store out of the package most come with a soap already in the sponge that can be harmful to your water. Just rinse and pour out and repeat.
