So, I have always wondered what would happen if I stabbed a stomatopod with a needle and put a hole through its exoskeleton. Would that hole be repaired by the animal's body, or would it have to wait until the next molt? Wouldn't they bleed to death? Do they have anything akin to our platelets and our scabbing strategy? How would they fight off infection with a gaping open wound if they have to wait until they molt?
