Wondering what flow everyone is using in their 180g. (72"x24"x24")

One overflow on each corner and tank will not have any sps.

Thank you for your suggestions

I use 3 x mp40wES and before the upgrade it was 3 x K5's and a K8 used in conjunction with a redsea wavemaster. The vortechs are way more cash up front, but the controlability and smaller footprint in the tank makes them worth every penny to me.

My tank is 60" X 30" X 24" and uses 4 Tunze Stream 6105's hooked up to an Apex and the return pump (eheim 1262). I have a few soft corals and they seem to be doing well. I've always thought that soft corals need some pretty good flow to maintain.

I'm thinking the exact same thing bout soft corals, everybody thinks of sps with flow and led lighting, I like lps but love soft corals..

I was thinking two mp60s ...one on each side and Call it a day,, maybe turn them down

I already own two mp40s and when the time comes I'll probably let them go for real cheap to help fund my two mp60.........wondering if anyone is running just one mp60 in a 180g

I just helped redo my friends 180 and we put two mp60s in it. We have them turned almost all the way down but they provide great flow and coverage for the tank

I've got an mp60 @ 50% and and mp40 @ 100% on my 90 gallon right now. Planning an upgrade to a 180 myself. I have an extra mp40 and might go mp60 on one end and two 40s on the other or sell the 40s and get another 60. Don't think you would need to the them down though. If I had two 60s on my new 180 id have them on full

any plan for anemones?

if so, do not go too fast. and maybe look into a wavemaker. unless you want to wake up with a stuck anemenes to a powerhead :D

wishing I would have purchased controllable pumps when I bought mine...

I'll be honest , I've seen videos on the tunze wave makers on u tube and I love the wave action, they are usually dirt cheap on the used forum, compared to new

I just don't think I can handle looking at the swaying back and forth all the time, even though it is a lot of movement, it is not random in my opinion

It's just a different type of flow, a wavebox doesn't replace the flow created by powerheads. If you get a wavebox you still need to get powerheads.

Using a dart for a return and another dart for a closed loop on an OM 4-way. Looking to dump the closed loop set-up and go with 2 MP40's. Just don't feel like I have good coverage of flow with closed loop.

I have 2 MP40s (at 60% reef-crest) and Water Blaster HY-7000 (gated down halfway while also feeding a Phosban 550 reactor) on a standard 180g tank with corner overflow. I mostly have softies, zoas, LPS, and a couple of clams.

I run 4 mp40ES, 2 on each side running max at 60%.

I don't think the tank could handle any more flow.

I am shocked to see people running an mp60 on a 6' tank definitely overkill and a waste of money IMO.

Water Blaster HY-7000 through dual (and split again) returns, 2 MP40s, 1 MP10 and a Tunze (forget the number but equivalent to a Koralia4). All are on the back not the ends

Well not if u r buying all new vortecs

Mp40s x 4 @465= $1860

Mp60's x 2 @765= $1530

If u already have some mp40s then definitely the 4 mp40s approach

I will be setting up a 180 mixed predominatly sps. I have a closed loop drilled with a dart. Also will be using a tunze wavebox and either a 6100 tunze or mp40 controlled off an apex. Im hoping this is enough flow.
