I'm sure you all have seem them in the stores - Lobster tanks.
I wanted to see if anyone has ever tried converting one over to a reef tank.
My friend picked one up which came w/ the chiller that has a temp controller. He thought the tank has a protein skimmer (I haven't seen it yet) and filtration system.
So we're wondering what happens if he tries to convert it to a reef tank.....
He already owns an extra Solana 150w MH to hang over it.
What's your thoughts?? :bounce3:

Dont see why not. I've seen some tanks that look like they shouldn't even have goldfish in them much less a mixed reef. Most of those lobster tanks are kinda already setup. Just really depends on how old it is how it was made.

They probably come with a pretty heavy duty filtration system - lobsters can put a big bioload into the water... (When I was a kid we had huge fiberglass tanks in one of our garages - we would keep lobsters in them until we shipped them out - we didn't really filter though - we just pumped fresh water into the tanks every high tide - our house was on the water up in Maine.)
