trying to hook up a sand filter and uv sterilizer to my canister filter to make use of the pump, and the flow rate is ideally slow for both. the only fittings i can find for valves, Ts and reducers are brass. will this leech copper into the tank and slowly poison it?

thanks.

Yes, brass has copper and zinc in it. It WILL leech copper. I have had a customer make the mistake of using one for a chiller line and killed 5 clams.

Hunt a bit harder, even mail order if needed, you'll be able to find the fittings you need in an acceptable plastic version. Metal of any kind is a definite no in a SW system.

Yes! Do not use them.

We've dealt with more than one dead tank killed by brass fittings. There's nothing particularly slow about the process. :(
