Anyone know where the best deal for a T5 4x54 watt 48" fixture with Lunar Lights and Timer are? Ive been looking high and low for over two weeks, and they seem way overpriced. Plus i am on a fixed budget. Sorry if in wrong forum. Thanks for all of your help. Coupons work too...

I have a 4 bulb 36" with moonlights and I don't know if they can be replaced or not. Probably. But they have like a 50k hour lifespan.

$110 is pretty cheap, but your gonna get what you pay for. Heck 4 good replacement bulbs are going to get what you pay for. It also depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to grow corals or is this for a fish only tank? I would say that for a fish only tank its fine. For a reef tank I would look elsewhere, again my opinion. With the cheaper lights your.getting cheaper bulbs, cheaper ballasts, cheaper reflecters and most likely a cheaper looking housing unit.

Marine depot prices for parts. A decent ballast costs more than that fixture does. Vue 660 is roughly $150, add $80-100 for decent bulbs than another $80-100 for decent reflectors. Than another $10-20 for the end caps and another $10-20 for wire and cords. So that's $330-430 in parts and doesn't count labor or the sheet metal for the hood. Of course these are retail prices, but you can see why a good hood costs so so much. You really do pay for the parts. Now if you find out who is using which parts, then you can compare who is overcharging.

You won't do better than the Aquatraders on price but you could get that and buy 4 new ATI bulbs for $80. Then you have great lights and an OK fixture. Ebay the old bulbs for $25.

I know a lot of people here don't like the Odyssea fixtures but most of the people on the board that have them are happy with them. Including me.

Deep blue makes a fairly reasonable fixture with built in timer and LEDs. Comes with good bulbs too

I'm in the same position. I have an older Tek 4 bulb that is in need og repair and needs lights..some of the cheaper brands would cost me less, but am a little leary of them. Hard to find used ones on ebay anymore. ATI too expensive..any other suggestions?
