Is it normal for these snails to leave the tank? i Have found a few on my floor and on the out side of the tank and stand.

they may do that for the first week as they learn their boundaries

Ya mine do that, don't think they are the brightest of snails.

Mine still try to climb out, and I have a euro-braced tank with a canopy. They usually make their way on top of the corner overflow, and climb from there LOL.

Yes, they like to hang out above the water line!
John, thanks again for the GREAT shipment.

Just read this thread and found mine on the carpet two of them? I wonder how long they can live out of water?

It will depend on how long the water in their shell lasts. If they are closed up it is longer than if they are on the move. Hotter = less time, humid, better than dry. When closed their shells are pretty water tight. In ideal conditions 24 hours if not more.

I always throw the Nerites back into the tank, and almost always see them moving from their spot when I check back!

I find them daily. Usually my German shepherd brings them to me. I just put them back in the tank and they are alive. Pretty amazing. Haha

They can stay out of water for awhile b/c they keep it in their shell and that is enough to keep their gills wet and working. If you find them on your floor at the first week or so, try bunching them somewhere so they can find a home, or clean the floor so it doesn't seem like an obvious place for a meal.
