Found this growing in my tank and I cant not find out what it is I looked in all my books cant find it.... What do you guys think it is?? (the orange spotted thing in the middle):uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

the interesting part is that it only recently showed up. the tube is similar too a tube worm or sorts, and it extends like a leaf or filter catching device. However, it looks almost calcareous which may be new coral growth..... so i am a little puzzled

Look up types of macro algae... Probably not but it's worth a look

I would guess macro algae first, as well.

so is it calcareous or not? A simple touch will tell, I can't tell from your descrition if its solid or moves or just looks like one or the other.

Also it would help to know where your live rock is from, there are some odd looking plating splotchy corals in the Caribbean called Agaricia

regardless it's very cool looking what ever it is
