I have a few milli frags and colonies. One of them has these white strings with "balls" at the end. Hard to describe. But it seems to be dieing from the base up.

any ideas?

Looks like algae has grown where the coral receeded.

Hydroids, not good, they sting the coral

Definitely hydroids.... If you can frag the top of the coral get rid of anything with the hydroids on it. It killed 3 of my colonies of deep water zoas no only by stinging and keeping them closed but it just became this thick carpet that took over the rock they were on. I tried buying a pygmy angel and flame angel that were "supposed" to eat it and they didn't. Ended up taking 4 large pieces of live rock out of the aquarium and letting them dry out to get rid of them.

Those look like hydroids to me too. I would either frag the top part as someone else already suggested, or I would smother the area infected with epoxy. If there are other corals/rocks infested, I would also cover them with epoxy so that it does not continue to spread. Also, as far as I know there is no fish that eats these..

Yeah I ended up fragging it.
