I have these white roots on the back side of my DT and in my cpr bak pak. They are extremely abundant in the bak pak (didnt clean it because I want to watch it grow). I will clean the skimmer soon, I just want to know what these things are. I tried searching and I have narrowed it down to a type of sponge. They only grow on my glass and they start with a huge stalk then have lots of branching roots.

sounds like a sponge or filter feeder to me.

I hear they are good and it means my tank is doing well, any thoughts on this?

sounds like colonial tube worms. you don't rerally see them open like the ones for sale, but they are fine and a good sign that your doing something right...they sometimes start out as little dots and then justt start veining out.

That puts me at ease, sucks they are in my skimmer though. I am gonna flush the skimmer out as part my routine cleaning. I only have two or three in my DT in the back.
