Salinity calibration w/53,000

So, I have my pm2 hooked into a 2nd temperature probe and temp compensation set to 2.2 per instructed. Now my question comes with regards to calibration. I open a 53k pack and add it to a glass tube and cap it, This time i tried floating it in my tank for about a hour or so, so that temp is the same and then went to calibrating it. Was this a mistake? How does the temp compensation work when I'm calibrating the probe in temp adjusted calibration solution?
