So, I just found out about dry rock, and plan to do a majority of that with few pieces of LR to seed to keep risk of unwanted hitchhikers down. To me, the 'pests' that can come on LR and infiltrate your tank are not worth the 'cool' critters you might get.
The rock I plan to use is Fiji, and because it is more porous than a lot of LR, it'd have more surface area. I did get confirmation on this from one person but wanted to get some second opinions as well. Because Fiji is more porous, and does have more surface area, would I be okay moving to .5 lbs LR/gal vs. 1 lb per gallon?
I've peeked through the minimalistic thread on here, and I love some of those tanks. I'm pretty sure if I put 90/120 (depending if I go with 90gal/120gal tank) lbs of Fiji in there, my tank would be pretty well packed. It wouldn't be a bad thing, probably, and I've seen some utterly gorgeous 'full' tanks too.
Just getting a sampling of opinions, as I get my thoughts together on how I want to go about setting my tank up, and estimating initial costs before I start buying anything. :)
