Hi I have a couple of pieces of LR in my sump that are 75-90% covered in sponges (White, translucent) whats the best, and most natural way of killing it without drying (the rock is loaded with large dusters and other inhabitants) or zapping it with a laser?

Why do you want to get rid of the sponges? A rock full of sponges, feather dusters and other inhabitants is what people pay good money for.

I was planning on using it to attach frags on to it and put it into the DT.

Well, if the frags won't stay in place with the use of superglue or epoxy the way the rock is now, you could always use a wire brush and just clear off a spot. There's really no need to wipe out all the sponges.

Sponges are awesome! Just get another piece of rock.

I agree, take in the rock to your LFS if you don't want it. You should get replacement rock and a little extra to add to the tank. People pay good money for LR with stuff like that.
