tank has been running for over 2 months ..55lb of dried rock, added 10 lbs live uncured rock and 5 lbs of live sand. Still nothing..everything reads 0. Have been ghost feeding for 3 weeks and still nothing. I have lost all color on the new rock (is that from the lights being off?) Am I being too impatient? Or what's the next step to try?

If your at 2 months then I'd say it would be safe to start slowly adding your CUC.

Do you have any algea growing in the tank?

Have you tried putting a frozen shrimp in there to jump start the bacteria process?

I would say your best bet is to throw an ammonia source, something like a raw shrimp, and measure your ammonia after to see if you have a spike and see how quickly the ammonia goes back to zero.

If youve been ghost feeding the tank for 3 weeks there is no need to put a shrimp in the tank. Do you have a QT set up? Now would be the time and I agree that its time for a small CUC. It wont hurt to run the lights for a few hours a day.

Turn on your lights to get the algea growing. Wait a week then there should be food for a small addition.
