I err.. had a small anenome appear in my tank today, and immediately assumed it was aiptasia, and grabbed it.. well it turned to mush as soon as I touched it.. guessing that may have been a bad idea.

Anyways it was white not brown as I have read aiptasia are, or are they brown once they get some size..

Hope i haven't gone and killed off a decent hitchhiker instead of a pest... and/or hope I haven't now pulled the pin on an explosion of pests...

They can be white or brown, at any size. In my past tanks I had one tank with no fish that didn't really get fed, and they were more white/clear. In another tank (at the same time) I had a fish and hermits that got fed & the aiptasia in there were more brown.

I used to have a couple brown ones in my DT. I currently have a few white ones in my sump. (cryptic) Go figure...

ANy chance by smushing it, it may now spread throughout the tank?

It came in as a hitchhiker with a piece of coral.

Not too worried in the end, it may give me an excuse to try a copperband.
