hermit crabs eating sea hare?

I put a sea hare in my tank yesterday to munch on some algae. I found today a couple of hermits chasing him around and they ate his protuberances. I think they munched off his eyes? Now the sea hare is just sitting there (~6 hrs). is it a goner? It was being chased by the hermits, so it wasn't dead when they started eating.

Anyone experienced this? Can they regrow?

Sad, sea hares always meet an ugly demise. I have had 3 and my last one, last for almost 1 year. If I were you I would watch it closely, but keep in mind, with no eyes, how is it going to find the hair algae and not those hermits.
