I know that lots of people (myself included) who keep saltwater tanks also have kept or are keeping freshwater planted aquariums as well.

So my wife and I are going back to saltwater sometime in the near future and I am trying to determine what would be a fair price to sell my existing FW planted tank setup for. Let me describe this and let me know if you think I am charging too much OR short changing myself

Its a 90 gallon system
setup beggining of 2012
we are keeping the stand and the canopy (built myself) to use with the new saltwater tank, but selling the lights.

90 gallon aquarium
painted background
4 * 32 watt normal flourescent light system (2 shoplights)
2 6500 k bulbs
2 plant gro bulbs
Filstar XP 2 canister filter
AquaTek CO2 regulator with Soleniod
ceramic difuser
5 lb Co2 tank
Cherry shrimp breeding very nicely
a dozen Hq Rasboras
a dozen Glo Light tetras
3 danios
1 pearl gourami
1 huge rainbow shark
2 siamese algea eaters
variety of Ottos
Malaysian Trumpet snails
dozen Nerite snails
5 green corys
huge amounts of Java fern
Anubias
Amazon sword
Wendtii crypts
2 very large (10-15 lb) pieces of manzinita
other large to medium pieces of driftwood
Enriched soil substrate with sand cap, been growing plants very nicely.

We are thinking of asking $500 for the whole shebang
take into account that all the hardware is brand new
the only thing that is not is the Co2 cylinder, but it gets replaced for $20 through a local homebrewing store.

That sounds fair but I just went through the selling process with my tank setup. I was asking half price of what I paid for it all 8mo ago and people still beat me up. If I didn't have to sell it by this friday I would of waited it out till the right person came along. Good luck!

That is where I do have an advantage, we can wait till someone shows up vs having to sell it quick

I don't know the market where you live, but $500 doesn't sound reasonable at all especially if you going to keep the canopy and stand.

What would you suggest? I am open to opinions
