I use this in my system and have for 2 years, never any negative effects. I like the extra piece of mind I get from using it, knowing that it will absorb some of the nasties

IMO Best media on the market used it for years in all displays with GREAT results and lets you know when to change, best media in all chemical categories cause it removes organics, PO4, meds, amines etc skimming and polyfilters w biomedia work great.,or even no skimming and polyfilters w Biomedia work well.

Have you checked out the pura pads? I heard they're like poly pads, except they don't change colors but much more inexpensive.

I have always used Poly Filter on my tank, it turns brown after a while so you know it's taking something out. I rinse mine in RODI before placing in the sump, otherwise my skimmer goes crazy.

I love poly pads! Even if they're just floating around with no direct flow through them, they turn nasty colors.
