Well after weeks of research and all of your feedback I finally ordered all of my equipment for my tank. I cannot believe how fast all that stuff adds up. I am almost done with my stand just waiting for the final coat of poly to dry. Now I just have to paint the back of the tank and wait for everything to come in. Might have to setup a camera at the door to capture my wife's face when she sees all the boxes :D. I will post some pics once everything comes in and I get the tank setup. Again thanks for all your help getting me to this point :p.

Welcome to reefing and it is always funny to see my wife's face when the UPS man drops off a box or three at the front door. Good luck with build.

Welcome back! It'll be a fun journey. Just make sure the wife doesn't know how much everything costs ;)

Welcome to the addiction! While it can be a very very expensive hobby, it is even more rewarding and beautiful. Hope the build works out well for you.

I knew that would be an issue so I decided to set money aside for the build. That way I won't have to worry about her freaking on the cost.

Try to inspire her to like the hobby and everyone wins but yo wallet. And welcome.

Just remember Cash is King! No credit card statements to contradict "It really wasn't that much honey"

Careful with them boxes. The wife might start getting the idea that she needs to spend as much money on some stuff that she wants ;)

Imagine the look on your face when you see $3000.00 worth of shoe boxes on the living room floor

+1. Get her involved in aqua-scaping ideas, as well as fish and coral stocking decisions.

Most definitely. Treating this build as a family affair. Both of my daughters cannot wait for the tank to be going. Everytime we are at the lfs they go crazy looking at all the different fish.

just make sure you have enough space for a sump/refugium and yourself to hide when she sees how much you are spending

It will all pay off when you see your fishes and corals grow!
