I have a client who wants me to set up a jelly fish tank but I'm having trouble finding one that is bigger than desktop size.
Something 5-6 feet including cabinetry , tank and top would be cool...say around 50-75 gallons...
The La fish guy seems to have some but there tiny an $10'000 +++....

Any good sources/ideas???? I'm in southern California...

You aren't going to find a large pre-made jellyfish aquarium since they require very specialized aquariums. You would have to construct it yourself with a either a circular or oval tank. The basic idea of a jellyfish tank is to create a means where water enters and exits the tank, as well as, suspends its inhabitants weightlessly within the center, all without damaging the soft gelatinous bodies of the jellies. Jellyfish also require laminar flow to stay afloat. Basically, water is introduced into the tank in the form of a layer of water, called a laminar layer, which moves along the inside circumference of a round or oval tank. This layer acts as a boundary and it is the mechanism that keeps the inhabitants suspended within the tank. In general, the incoming water is diffused across a large screened exit. This current of water gently pushes the jellies away from the exit screen, and that exit screen is so exaggerated in its size that its ‘draw’ is so diffused, or weak, that the jellyfish typically are not pulled into it. Can't use regular aquarium filtration as it will suck of the floating jellyfish. You need to research constructing jellyfish aquariums. If you don't want to do the actual build, there are companies that can build them for you but it will likely be very costly.

Haha,....I was just talking with my aquarium service partner in crime and we were talking of building one... I looked at the designs and it doesn't seem too hard... at least easier than finding one in $$$.....It's time to put the handy man hat on!

Thanks guys:bum:

Speak of the Devil. Just installed this one. 48 x 14.4 x 48 two jet from James @ Envision. Absolutely amazing build. Got a quote from Jelly Aquarium/ LA fish Guy. A little cheaper but only out of 1/2" acrylic and not a true kreisel only bent pieces of acrylic. Jame's is 1.5" thick and a true kreisel.

Another great place to get a quote from is http://sunsetmarinelabs.com/ tell Nancy Brian sent you. It's also the best source for tank raised Moon jellies as well as the food. I just got 20 x 3-4" today. You won't find a better source or support:thumbs up:

Here is a tube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zN9rxGUTt8A

PM me if you want a few pointers on how much of a pain in the *** these are to deal with compared with to a standard tank and the expense of the food.

The tank in the video is only 100 gallons. If you sell Jame's tank and a proper setup it will be the most expensive 100 gallon tank you will ever do.

Did you see "tanked" Saturday they did a jelly fish tank. They used a rectangular shaped tank and installed angled baffles to keep the jelly fish from hitting the corners along with jets in the bottom to keep the flow going around in a circle.

I know we just take everything they do with a grain of salt but seemed pretty easy if it was a proper enough way to do things...

My employee told me about that episode...Gotta see it! Sooo busy with fish tank stuff! But it did call Jim at www.envisionacrylics.com ,.... and he had good prices on jellyfish aquariums & was very helpful. You have to create the cabinetry for it but thats no biggy. He made the jellyfish aquariums at the Moneray bay Aquarium....Awesome!...I still need to check out sunset marine labs.... It's hard to find time with these wet salty hands!
