Remote sump for Skimmer?

Need some suggestions. I bought a Reef Octopus xs-350 the other day. Well it will not fit in my existing sump. :debi: The skimmer needs about 20x20" of room. I was wondering if a external sump 24x24x10" would work with this Skimmer? Is that giving the skimmer enough room to work properly?

20x20 include the space the pump takes up? if so then yes a remote sump can be utilized just for the skimmer.
