I have been using an Asm G3 for almost 8 years now and I am planning on revamping my sump and am looking to upgrade my skimmer. My tank is 125g with a 40 g sump. I have a budget of $400. I have been researching skimmers lately and have been looking at reef octopus sro 2000Int and bubble magus nc9. Have read some good things and bad things about both. Ease of use and reliability as well as performance are important to me. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

reef octopus sro 2000Int = Ease of use and reliability as well as performance. 3 year warranty is important too.

I use it on my 150g with 30g sump. Other than emptying the waste container, and cleaning the collection cup, it is set it and forget it.

wildman, what water level do you have it in? Do they really need to be in 6 inches to work best?

IME, yes, it does. It has the most range of adjustment and is more stable.

I have considered others, but for me, the SRO line is what I will keep until they make something better. Going to be hard pressed to surpass this one though.

SRO clone with Sicce pump.

I recently purchased a Sicce Syncra 4 return pump. Extremely loud. After a month, I had enough. They could not provide a replacement under their warranty, nor could they supply parts. I had to request a refund. I have emails to prove.

Coralvue's warranty is the exact opposite. Just go to their forum here on RC and verify. They are located in Louisiana.

So I went ahead and purchased the SRO 2000 internal skimmer from Premium Aquatics when they were running their Memorial Day sale. I installed it today after running it for 24 hours in vinegar and water. I have it sitting in 6 inches of and it started producing foam right away. The skimmer is very quiet also after installing a PVC Tee on the outlet hose. I am very encouraged by the initial performance of this skimmer!
Thanks for the recommendation!
