So my zoas have been suffering from what I finally ID as zoa pox. I found some furan 2 on amazon for dirt cheap and ordered it. It will be here on tuesday and wanted to get a few things straight so I dont stress them out even more.
1. I use 1 cup (like you measure food with?) as well as one packet and dip for aprox 20 minutes?
2. I figured just to be safe I would dip all of my zoanthids (so far I have 2 colonies with it), is it ok to put them all in at the same time? they are all fairly small frags so I wouldnt need much more than a cup of water to treat them.
3. The colony most recently found infected has three rics attached to them, is it ok to dip the rics in this treatment? or should I try to seperate them from the infected rock prior to dip?
I did read several articles on this as well as the link to the web page on the treatment, but with the problems ive been having with my tank lately, I really just want to make sure this goes as smooth as possible so I can have the best chances with saving my zoas. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my thread, and to those of you that may answer as well.
Happy reefing! Tony

What is the temp of the tank? Did you buy them with zoa pox already on them?

Yea I've read that one and positively IDd it as zoa pox but I am concerned about the rics I have attached to a rock with some infected zoas I have, just wanted to make sure it was ok to put them through this treatment.

dunno about the rics. You can chip the Z's off the rocks and treat or the rics off the rock

I dealt with this about a year ago....This is what I did and it worked very well...I used one packet of furan for every 2 cups of water....I dipped all my zoas at once for 20min at a time and did this for a week on mon, wed, fri, and sund. After each treatment give them a good swish in non furan salt water and place them back in ur tank...after the first week treatment give them a week to rest and recover...then if they still have signs of it treat again in the same fashion....I used the exit water from a water change to do this with...and use fresh mixed furan for each dip....good luck and pm me if u have any other questions.....oh and make sure the temp of the dip water if as close to ur tank temp not to shock the corals.....and I'd take the rics off if ya can...they are the most fragile of the shrooms. Good luck
