One of the marineland round ones for 200.00 on craigslist. Came with at least 200.00 worth of carbon, about 7 bags of lobster salt which i found out is instant ocean, and everything on it works. Gonna clean it up and make it a salt tank for coral and anenomes. Probably figure a way to run a sump under it.

Did it come with the chiller? Lobster tanks in resturants are typically kept pretty cold.

There's been at least two lobster tanks for sale in this area in the same amount of weeks. It would be cool to do a cold water tank :fun4:

Yes and it works great, i am going to remove it anyways though as i wont need it.
The LFS has one setup as a display tank and i think done properly it could look really nice in a house.
Went thru everything and i got 2 full 5 gallon buckets of salt, half a 5 gal bucket of carbon plus 16 of the small containers of it.

LOL, I love that thing. If the whole tank thing doesn't work out you could make it into a nice hot tub… come to think of it how about a hot tub/reef tank but you'd have to watch where you sit ;)

Use a lot of bleach. Those tanks get pretty nasty. I'd toss the carbon, it's the cheapest stuff Marineland can source. There are quite a few threads here that talk about how cheap carbons aren't very effective and can have considerable downsides.

i got it pretty clean already, im going to buff the acrylic top and rebuild the bottom on it. I am thinking it would be really cool as a tank in the front room of my house.
It holds about 150 gallons itself i think, i hsave a sump that holds about 65 gallons that i can use with it. i use rox carbon for my tanks in a reactor when i run it but the marineland stuff i can sell or use for freshwater tanks.:celeb3:

I'm so excited about this tank as i have been wanting one for about 2 years now.:fish1:
