So I want a nem but I'm scared it'll move and sting my corals. Is there one that won't be so bad? And not a tube nem.

No, not really, they will all move until the find a place they like the best. I believe some prefer the sandbed over rocks, and some control over where they locate themselves can be made with adjustments of light and flow intensity

An unhappy anemone will move around in the hopes of finding an ideal spot. If you can provide ideal conditions than you should have no worries about it moving.

Then once they are happy and start splitting the new ones will find their new home which involves moving. Yes they will sting stuff in the process. Some can handle it but some can't. SPS and LPS will suffer the most.

Or they will be happy for years, then up and move for no apparent reason and of course get sucked into a powerhead. On a general mixed reef, it may be worth the risk. I wont do it again, and I am setting up my 90 freshwater for an anemone tank.

make sure to add salt to the tank before you put the anemone in :spin3:

i also have 2 large anemones in my mixed reef and was very lucky that they both have stayed within an inch or so of where i placed them... i did adjust powerheads alot to find a spot where they seemed not bothered.

Thanks everyone. What would be the ideal place in your experience?

both mine are pretty low in tank. the carpet is burried in sand against a rock and the sebae is inbetween my overflow and some rock a few inches off the sand. The sebae seems to reach up closer to the light from time to time and will hopefully stay lower all the time once i upgrade lighting.

the ideal place will be diffrent for diffrent anemones and diffrent setups.

I have 2 RBTA's about half way down a 75 gal. tank under 250 watt MH's with med. flow and they stay put, so far
