My 7 week old Biocube 29 HQI is cooking with the metal halide lights. Just saw a vid on YouTube of a guy who gutted the HQI fixture and put and seated an AI Nano inside. My question is; do you guys think I'd be shooting myself in the foot moving to the nano light? Would it be enough spread? Thx for anyone who can help.

Might as well get the sol. You'll be happy you did once you have to upgrade.

I have the Nano. It should be fine for a mixed tank. SPS and clam dominated you might do better with the full version.

Also, you might want to consider opening the hood and keeping your halide.

I built a mesh-top and I'm still struggling with temps. Am I right in thinking that the BC HQI is a superior lighting source than the Ai Nano with the exception of heat? Still new to reefkeeping and very new to LED's.

They're different. Some people swear by the LEDs and some do the same for halides.

I like the nano on my Elos cube. It's controllable and the colors (so far) are great. I've always liked halides though.
