I would get the Hanna 736 for phosphate, not the Hanna 713, if you want such a device. The 736 is more accurate and tests a bit lower. IMO the 713 is not that useful with uncertainty of +/- 0.04 ppm. The 736 has uncertainty of about +/- 0.015 ppm.

It's the 736 you want. Then convert the values to ppm phosphate from ppb phosphorus by multiplying by 3.1 and dividing by 1000. :)

Thanks Randy :) I will be dumping the rocks in drums tomorrow for the Lanthanum treatment.. Still havent got any lanthanum as of yet.Temperature here in calcutta is about 40 degree celcius, still will try to visit the chemist store tomorrow. Will you keep guys posted on the Lanthanum Chloride Thread.

Randy. Just used the HI713 for the first time on a 3 week old tank. Got a reading of .14.
Do you think I am testing wrong?

That reading seems possible. Often, there's enough organic debris in live rock and dry rock to cause an initial phosphate spike. If you're worried, you could try some water changes, but I probably would wait until the tank settles down.

Well crap, didn't know there were 2 types of checkers. BRS sent me the 715. Where do you get the 736?

Yep, well now I'm annoyed. haha. Do they use the same reagent? I bought a 20 pack along with it.
