i ordered a mix from florida pets PODS AMPHIPODS COPEPODS came with a huge variety of life even a small pipe fish doa but would of been cool had it lived. anyways i got one specimen i have not seen before and cant find on melvs reef. it is a inch long darker color has a fan tail like a shrimp and to large antenna's
any thoughts as to what it is?

lights are out when they come on if i see it again i will try and get one. it kind of has centipede legs too

Becareful buy things like that I got a isopod problem because I do the same thing and ended up eating every sps I had in my tank

Becareful buy things like that I got a isopod problem because I do the same thing and ended up eating every sps I had in my tank
Pods dont eat corals. Your corals were already dieing and they were eating the dead tissue.
It looks like a caprellid amphipod (skeleton shrimp) but i could be wrong

i think you on the right track but the tail on mine is fanned out just like shrimp. that one looks different in that aspect.

upon closer inspection with lights the tail may not fan out like a shrimp

there has been studies about certain species of pods found that do eat sps(some not even in a class yet), unless it was a fraud,but i think not. just like some flat worms eat planaria,and flats that eat pods, and some live in frogspawn,and the list is endless.

lol look up sps eating isopods nothing was dieing everything was perfectly healthy can ask the members that seen the tank i have tons of isopods in my tank now come take a look

no it want be there long before a seahorse eats it. but i guess it could it smaller pods from what i read.
