I have noticed that my Zoas seem to be reaching for more light in the tank no matter where I put the in the tank. I can not imagine that a 150W MH fixture would not be enough light for Zoas in a 30g tank. Anyone else had this problem? The bulb is 5 months old and is a 14K Pheonix DE.

How crowded are the zoanthids? I had a colony that was very dense and the zoas became very long. After thinning them out they went back to normal.

These are all Frags with the most being 6-8 polyps

Would you be able to post some pictures?
Why do you think "...they seem to be reaching for more light"?
What fixture do you have?

I will have to get some side pictures. My chalices and caps do great, but tye zoas seem to want more light.

Ok, but what fixture?
What exactly you mean by "they seem to want more light"?
Why?
Waiting for the shots. :)

Could you please tell us why do you think the zoas are in need of more light?

The lights were off when I took this picture. As you can see the polyps are all streched out. All the zoas are doing this even the ones that have 2-3 polyps.

Please take a picture when lights are on also.
That doesn't necessarily means they need more light.

Yep

I am putting them all back in my 90 and will see how they do. I have never had this problem with any tank let alone a goofiness. Very annoying.

Hard to see on the picture, but what is that dark film on the rocks? is that Cyano or algae?
