As the title says, I am looking for a reasonably priced lens for my canon 50D for taking maco shots mainly of coral and fish, but also as a general macro lens and portrat lens. What would you recomend? Currently, I only have a Sigma DC 18-200 as my general shooting lens, but the shortest focal length is around 2 feet. I want something that will get closer with moderate telephoto. When that lens is extened it get way too long.

I know that you said that you want something with telephoto, but the best macro lens for tank shots is the Canon 100mm (http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_100mm_f_2_8_macro_usm). Or the mac daddy of macro would be the same Canon 100mm lens (http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_100mm_f_2_8l_macro_is_usm) but, with an image stabilizer. Two great lenses!
