I put a MJ900 in my 14 and it was easy. If the output is different than stock, just get some tubing. Mine fit. It was tight so I had to heat the hose a bit. Don't make it more complicated than need be. GL, you'll be fine!

Does is matter which way I place it in there. I have the hose going to the outtake straight up and the intake of water to the outside193165

as long as the intake is not blocked, and the output gets where you want it and there is plenty of water supply "return to pump section flow" to keep the pump covered enough it dont draw air into the intake causing cavitation...the pump dont care where or how its sitting

I'd recommend the MJ 900 also; 7watts vs 21watts of I remember right. Watts = heat; anything you can do to keep your all in one cool is a plus. My first tank was an AquaPod 24 - I replaced the stock pump and instead of a MJ1200 I put in 3 MJ900s. - 1 as the return, 2 attached to fitting going over the back wall with duck bills. Lots of water movement - all concealed.
