Hi
First of all i don't know if this have been post it before, 2nd this is not my idea, is what a reefer friend told me to do.
Long history short, i have a power loss in my home for about 24 hrs, and when the light came back i notice a lot of critters in the glass, just to find out that my tank have a lot of red planaria, i start doing my research, and call one of my source of knowledge, a friend of mine how has been for more than 15 years in the hobby.
The thing is red planaria is a photosynthetic animal, that's way the put over corals and block their light, and from this statement the best way to get rid of this pest is to turn off all the lights in the aquarium for about 36-48 hrs a turn on a light like a flashlight or something that can send a narrow patch of light to one spot in the aquarium.
Most of the planaria will go to that spot because of the lack of light in the rest of the aquarium, and there you can catch most of then with a siphon, do this procedure a few weeks and you'll get rid of the planaria easy and without any chemicals.
And finally to keep it in check add something that eat planaria.
