Im not sure on what size tank i want to go with yet. Just in case i cant drill the tank i will have to use an overflow box right ? I'm not real sure in how these work and would really love some help with this. My DT will be between 29 and 55 gallons. I'm not real sure on which i will chose yet. I plan on keeping sand LR rubble and chaeto in my sump/fuge. Can anyone help me with this. Thanks in advance

An overflow box draws water up and over the rim of your tank by drawing a siphon. It's difficult to describe in words, but it is set up so that you do not lose the siphon if your flow is interrupted. You will need to determine your tank size and flow before you purchase one.

This should help with the hang on over flow box.

Best to have an internal over flow.

Ok now im nervous about the whole sump/fuge deal. I was doing some research and i found a bio cube. Do you think this will make a good reef tank without doing many mods to it. I;m thinking throw some cheato in the back of the filter. Put a good power head in the tank. Purchase better lighting and i should be good to go ! Any opinions on this ? thanks in advance

Biocubes as great tanks, and you can mod them as you grow. I started with a 14 BC and have outgrown it. The BC was my "tester" tank to see if I could keep up with the hobby. If you want a plug and play, biocubes are great, and also look at Red Sea Max. Most people that "know what they are doing" usually piece things together. My only advice if you go biocube, get the 29 cuz you can fit a good amount of stuff in there.....HTH.

No, stock lighting is fine for A LOT of corals. I got some growth out of some easy SPS with stock lights. Eventually, if you want, you can upgrade the lights. I did a Rapid LED retro on mine. At the beginning, you can stay stock. Your first mods should be a media rack and flow, IMHO.

Ok thats good, On my old reef a few years ago i purchased PC lights i cant remember the wattage or anything. I'm assumeing the stock lighting will be better than the PC lights right ?

The BC come with PC, MH(hqi), and LED. I was referring to the PCs. They are adequate for easy corals.

wvreef13: I'm gonna go with rovster and say BioCube. I'm going with one and mod wise they are fairly easy. If you want to see some of the mods they offer check out the link below.
