Is there anything to this? I know some people swear by it and others hate it. Anyone wth any experience please feel free to chime in here, does it help with color at all, or just diease/pariste prevention? Also what is the most effective way to soak food? I hate to waste money on an unneeded supplement.
Thanks Guys!

garlic itself contains Vitamine B6, which helps with proper function of the nervous system, red blood cell formation, hormone activity and nucleic acid production in humans.
we like to have the same effects feeding garlic to fish, but not the garlic supplements u buy at LFS ... those are just for taste .... to get picky eaters to start eating. they dont contain vittamines as far as I know. if ure fish are eating, u dont need it basically.
now many feed their fish raw garlic, or mix it in a blender with their fish food ...

So if I smashed up a clove or two threw it and some tank water in with my food for a 20 min soak or so would I get the positive effects or does it have to be blended and actually consumed? Some say just the oils from the garlic is the benficial part.

smashing it and trowing it in water wont get the oil out. and for sure it wont get it into your food ... frozen or dry food by the way ?
I guess u could extract the oil, by crushing it and squeezing the oil out of it lol but that would be way too much work..

if you really want to feed your fish raw garlic, then that seems to be one of the most logical ways.
but like everything in reefing, there are always more than 1 way :)

Garlic is just there for the picky eaters. Vitamin enriched shrimp or some good flakes are the best way to keep them healthy.

I blend a clove or two of garlic with my seafood mixture (which includes scallops, clams, shrimp, vitamin enriched brine, mysis, and various other "angel formulas" that include sponge).
I started garlic to my food in order to get my Moorish Idol to eat various foods... now I just do it because all of the fish seem to love the mixture. They're all nice and plump, and look like they're in good health, so why change a good thing :).
