Does anyone know if you can swap impellers between these two housing. Both say they are 4.5 watts. I'm thinking they are same housing with different impellers. I want to upgrade my 550 with a 750 impeller. Will it fit?
Thanks

yea u can the impellar will spin but not really sure how much gph more, than wat it is regularly rated, but where u gain gph in one u lose on the other one, the impellar is really the only thing thats different between either model.

Ok I swapped impellers and that is the only difference between these two powerheads. The are same body with different impeller. Here are pics. The 750 impeller is on right and 550 on left. I ordered 550 based on experience with maxi jet and other regular power heads. The laminar flow or what ever they call is completely different. It's the difference of 700 gallons passing you by in a river verse 700 gallons coming out of a hose. I still don't think ill ever buy a mp-40. Im not cheap but I don't waste money. If a koralia last 2 years ill gladly buy 10 over the next 20 year's.

I was looking into this same upgrade so thanks for the information and pics. I am debating going from the 550 impellers to either the 750 or 1050. I am considering 1050's because the pumps are so gentile. Did you see a noticeable difference in flow in going from 550 to 750?
