Hi, I propagonade Xenias in my aquarium and recently put an ad on my local classify page. I was amaze how many people call, came and trade for my amaizing Xenias (that's what I call them now). I Trade like there was no tomorrow and even took out the ad. Now I need some ID, so I can take good care of them, trade them, sell them or give away to my friends.

First my Xenias, just to show off (cant believe what I got for them, you be the judge)

Best guess on the last one is green star polyps or zoanthids of some type. Hard to tell while they're that closed up.

I could be wrong, I don't know a ton about corals, but 6 to me looks almost like a type of brain coral; maybe open brain? Again, could be wrong, but just a thought. That was my first thought when I saw the pic... Good luck, and nice trades!! Looks like you got quite a variety!

coralreefergal. Yes, num 6 it looks like an open brain. Thanks great lead. Like lobophylia or trachyphylia, but those are from indo-pacific and I know what I got are from the caribbean. Now Iam a bit worried about the sweeper, dont know if they are long or short. Tomorrow I will give it a little more room.

Mgarguillo, I'll see if num 7 open up tomorrow and see if i cant identify it. I have zoas and star polyps... I dont think that's it, but will see. Thanks for you respond.

Anybody else??? I really need help with these ID.

Woulnt be lobo or trach. Looks more like maze brain coral. Check out platygyra brain. Also could be a favite or favia, but hard to tell, try and get some pics of it when its all puffy.
Also number 7 does lookd like star polyps, any luck with it open for pics?

Well, look at maze coral and is describe like a close brain coral from indo-pacific. For now to me mine looks more like a open brain coral... I know that the ones I got were collected in puertoricans' waters in the caribbean. For now I will call it a caribbean open brain. I'see if tomorow I can get better pic.

Any other clue. What about 1 thru 5? Any help is appreciated!

I'll check with my fiance as soon as he gets home on 1-5. But I'm def thinking #6 is maze, not open brain. (unless there is open maze brain? haha!)

Heres open:

Num #7 have open somewhat and I look at gorgonian. Found out mine is
erythropodium caribaeorum***
family:anthothelidae
feeding requirements: this gorgonian lives solely from its wun zooxanthellae
Aquarium suitability: Ideal for a reef auqrium, this species is hardy and easy to keep and will soon spread over much of the aquarium decoration

Anacropora for the first http://sdmas.com/corals/92.php
The next two are Acroporas but too small to tell what.
The montis are also too small, the first maybe mollis http://sdmas.com/corals/263.php and the other could be an upside down Monti florida http://sdmas.com/corals/465.php
Last one is a LPS, kinda looks like one of the brains from the Caribbean. Maybe Colpophyllia http://sdmas.com/corals/568.php

I agree on number 1, thought monti undata at first but like you mentioned, still young, so as it grows you'll know. And I havn't seen many monti digi that have the bumps all over it that 3 has, so it makes me think acro... but i'm gonna go look at some and see what I can find, cuz you instigated my curiousity lol

BTW, I like that brain, especially opened and puffy! Wanna ship it up?!:spin2: lol

nice looking trades!! i think the number 3 in the new trades post that you labeled birds nest, might be a montipora digitata or branching montipora. Im not 100 percent but i do know that birdsnest have very pointed tips where the branching monti has rounded tips but otherwise resembles a birds nest very much like the one in that picture. just a guess

Apparently these could still be a birdnest C.Caliendrum and your talking about S.hystrix

The Seriatopora genus has many species, yet the most popular are the Bird's Nest Coral S. hystrix and the Bush Coral S. caliendrum. They are both found under the common name Bird's Nest, but it is actually quite easy to tell them apart. S. hystrix has thinner branches that taper to a point, and are usually pink, blue or cream. S. caliendrum have thicker branches and they don't taper but are blunt, and are usually cream, brown or green in color.
