View Full Version : Salt mix heat stable?

I live in Phoenix, AZ where it is 113 degrees today. I do not have the luxury of a "Fish Room", or an unbelievably supportive spouse (like some of you DIY'ers do!) so a lot of my "fish crap" (her words) get relegated to shelves in our laundry room (not air conditioned, but in the house- temp hits 95 in summer) or the shed (outside, temp hits 130+)

I bought the 5 gallon buckets of Reef Crystals, but wonder if the heat in either location will destroy/alter it in some way.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

The heat shouldn't be a problem. Humidity which I don't believe you have a problem with can allow moisture to enter the salt mix and make it hard perhaps reducing alk a bit. ;)

I wouldn't worry about the heat. I agree that humidity is more of an issue. You could add a desiccant to the salt container, if it seems to be a problem. A bag of rice might be enough.
