Is this too large for a 10 small/medium sized fish with 15-20 small SPS coral 200 gallon system?

I bought it, and it's not really producing a lot of foam, more light yellow liquid when run wet. It's run for quite some time, and is cleaned regularly (once a week).

I don't dose carbon.

I have a Deltec rated for 1-1,5k liter. Should I switch back to this?

It's WAY too large for that size system. The SM300 needs to be on a tank that is 450g plus or so. I'd switch back to the Deltec for now, or downgrade the SM300 to a SM200.

So basically it will not work in my small system?

Correct, you will have to run the water level so high up in neck to get it to work that it will be very prone to overflowing on you.

Followup question,

I've been struggling with bad colors and some green slime algae on sand (flow is very good all over, and low nutrients on several testkits).

1. Could it be that the skimmer is not removing what it should, and this causing the problem above?

2. When/If my corals grow out and are wastly larger, would this not also contribute to a "higher bioload" and maybe demanding a larger skimmer again?

I hate to sell such a beautiful piece of equipment, and I will upgrade at some point, so selling it would only result in a loss, as this equipment is probably just as good in a year or two when I move and I don't need the $ now.

That could be a little bit of it, however you don't have an extremely heavy bioload either, so it just might be a little extra PO4 within the system. I'd need some more info on your system with parameters, filtration, etc., and even some pics wouled help to go much further with it.

You will never be able to have a high enough bioload in that system for a 300 series Royal-Exclusiv skimmer to work properly, you just don't have enough water volume.

Kinda ticks me off that my LFS sold me a $2,5k equipment I can't resell for anything close to that. I'll probably just store it for a later build. These things aren't really going to get worse stored dry I guess.

Pictures attached.

N: 0,5
P: 0,04
SG 1.026
Temp 26-27 celsius
Ca: 420 ish
KH: 9,5 ish dead stable after adding a CaRX

Not much dosing of anything else but Fauna Marine Min S and Organic blend. 200-210 gallon system volume. Rocks get covered with that algae. Not running GAC or GFO atm.

Would you recommend me the Alpha 200? Would it also be able to use my own UPS account for a pickup from you guys?
