I have a uv/vis available to me and work in a lab. I rather spend $50 on a frag, soo...

Does anyone have a uv/vis method (method similar to hana checker) they could share?

I think I do but I'll have to look up the particulars. If you haven't got a good response by this weekend, bump this thread and I'll have time to check.

FWIW it might be worth trying a regular run of the mill read the color style test and try to read it with the UV-Vis. Just make up a solution with high enough phosphate to see so you can find the lambda max and then make yourself a little calibration curve. Chances are the spec can read it a lot lower than your eyes would be able to.

Good idea. I am also going to do a lit search and let you know what I find. No reason to buy the check if I can use the uv-vis 5 days a week, which will obviously give me greater than or equal to accuracy.

another bonus of working in pharma mfg lab is unlimited <1.3 uS/cm RODI

I can attest to the advantages of working in a lab. :)

Some key terms for your search are

phosphomolybdic acid
molybdate
ascorbic acid

That's how it works. I know I have a recipe around somewhere for the test.

+1 here too. Too bad the WDXRF I run everyday won't do me much good with this hobby.

Although I do have access to an ICP and AA. On the other hand, our throughput is so high most of the time it would probably be tough for me to get a sample through.
