Would the lighting in a JBJ 28G Nano CF-QUAD be sufficient for growing sps coral or should I upgrade to MH or leds???

maybe montipora, or other less light demanding ones, but IMO, an upgrade will be required to do those colorful sticks... Acropora need much more than just light, but intense light a basic requirement. MH can be found for cheap, especially while many are going led route, I still think ATI powermodule ore sunpower t5's still make the tank light up like none other, just my opinion though:)

Im assuming even with the montipora, placement should be middle level to high in the tank right?

I had good luck with stylo's and birdsnest under the PC, got decent growth and good color. Just really not enough light for acros though, they lived and kept color, but hardly grew.

If you want to do it right, upgrade your light. Any good MH, T5, or LED fixture will give you good results IMO. I've had my Radion for over 9-mo now and have had fantastic results in both growth and color.
