I guess I have dead hair algae. I have plenti of flow now after adding to more powerheads. Besides removing the rocks and scrubbing it off what else can I do? The coraline algae can't grow on the parts of the liverock with the dead haair algae. The pics were taken at night with no lights on. All parameters are good. Its actually a little high on Cal about 500 and Alk 10

Get yourself a phosphate reactor, cost you about 30 bucks. hook it up to your tank, usr ro/di water, start feeding less, and watch your hair algae die off, most Hair algae will start to turn whit before it dies.

I am running 2 150 watt MH 14K bulbs about 11 month sold now. I am waiting for my new Maxspect Razor Fixture.

Can't you just siphon out the dead stuff? That's what I did (though there are few crevices I can't get the hose into).

Old bulbs, change em out soon, and increased on time of the lights will increase algae growth. Any sort of overfeeding you should cut back.

I can't siphon the dead hair algae off the rock since its attached to it. The lighting is for 8 hrs a day. When I get the new LED fixture I will dial it all the way down. I was told of people bleaching their corals from having it too high.
