I am using four 250 de halides that are in reflectors that are 12x7.5.

The tank is 48"x48"x25" and being made out of 3/4" plexi on the side and 1/2 on the top and bottom and there will be a 6" outer flange on the tank along with a 6" center brace.

Do you guys think that will interfere with my lighting at all?

No one has any thoughts?

Yes it will, plexi is probably not the best mix with the tank size, only because of the way the bracing needs to be done. Glass would have been a better choice, a smaller Euro Brace could be used and no need for the center bracing. The Euro Bracing on my 40x40 is only 2.5" wide and doesn't interfere with the lighting.

Thanks, I'll try and figure something out with the manufacturer, 6" seems like a lot to me. I don't know why I don't just send you my questions since you're the one to always answer :D

I don't mind replying to your questions, you ask them very well and I don't have to decipher anything. :-)

6" may not be overkill on that size acrylic tank. Thicker panels would require less support but would add to the cost.

Do you think the bracing will affect the lighting enough for me to find a different manufacturer? I like the guy I am going with, but I also don't want to waste my 1000watts of light just heating up plastic.

Does the tank builder know of the lighting you have planned? If so and he still wants to build it the way you have said I would do a little shopping around.

After talking about the lighting he said he'd do a 4" flange and 4" center brace.
