Cheeto seems to me melting away

Friday I had a full bag of cheeto in my fuge and now it is down to 1/2, I remeber reading about this happening to another member or two but do not remember the solution other than start a cheeto garden...not possitble!!Thanks, Bubba

something eating it? that's a big decline in a short amount of time? any spikes in nitrates (a possible sign of it dying)

I've been battling the chaeto dying issue for some time. differant things could be happening...lighting, or nutrients. i.e. iron, iodide. I started dosing iron and bought new bulbs and mine stopped dying but doesnt appear to be growing.

I had a problem with Chaeto dying in my fuge and it turned out I had to much lighting on it. I was running 2 power compact flood lights from Lowe's as I have a decent sized fuge and it turned out two lights where to much and was killing it off pretty fast. I turned one of the lights off and I have not had an issue since then.
