Placing fish in mesh breeder to get to eat?

So I got a new bangaii cardinal and it's only been 3-4 days but he is so skiddish he won't eat. I was thinking of putting him in a mesh breeder inside my tank until he starts eating. Has anyone else done this before? Does it yield good results?

No, he was not qtd. he is in with 1 clown and a shrimp but is still skittish. I got him into a good sized breeder box and he still won't eat. Should I leave some of the food in the net overnight or take it out and try again the morning?

I would leave a very small amount of food in the box with the fish to give it a chance to check the food out when it feels safe.
