It's kind of hard to tell what is going on based on those photos, but... is that purple stuff in the lower right part of the picture coralline algae, or some type of sponge? I think I see more of that type of stuff on other parts of the blasto too, but I'm not sure if that's just coralline growing on the damaged skeleton, or more sponge. To me, assuming that's not coralline algae, it looks like you have some type of invasive sponge that is spreading through the colony, along the base of the stalks. That macro algae that is taking over the damaged spots in the colony isn't helping either.

thank you kurt_n.
The truth is that I did not remark and now that I have seen better brings me to coralline.Ιn your opinion this will spread to other parts of Blastomussa?Did I do something to save?

If the purple is coralline algae (hard, not soft like a sponge), then that is not the problem. Coralline will grow on the dead skeleton after the tissue has receeded, but I have never seen it cause a problem with healthy tissue. So I do not think the coralline is the problem.

Do I see Ricordeas in the background and off to the side? If so, are those new to that area?

Beautiful pictures and tank!

Looking at those pictures, I wouldn't really say those Euphyllia are far from the coral. They look pretty close to me, but that's just my opinion. Actually, with how many different Euphyllia you have in there (which are all beautiful, by the way!), I think you might start having some problems with other corals at some point. Things are pretty tight in there and at least with my experience, I've found Euphyllia really don't play nice with others in cramped environments. Long sweepers always seemed to come out at night on mine, when I had them.

The other thing that I noticed is that mushroom in the sand, just under the blasto on the right. I know that in my tank, there are certain corals my mushrooms don't play well with. They are fine with my Lobophyllia, but if they even brush up against my Platygyra, the mushrooms will start killing it off within hours. I have to keep them pruned back from that area. My blasto is not within reach of the mushrooms, so I'm not sure who would win the battle there. But just something else to consider.

If it was me, I'd probably try cutting off those heads that are receding, if possible. Then I'd find a different place to put it and see if that doesn't help things. I have a big blasto colony front and center in my tank, too. Hope yours can turn its luck around! Such a beautiful tank!
