Red Zoas taking over

I seem to be having quite a few baby red zoas developing. Should I worry about these? And what is the best method of getting rid of the stragglers that i don't want?

Sounds like a problem I wouldn't mind having, lol. If you don't want them, frag some off & trade/give them to a reefer friend or your lfs.

Two problems with this idea. One I have a ton of little tiny ones just starting. I bet I have maybe 15 small ones starting up at the moment, plus my one big one. Two, I have no idea how to frag lol

Google it & do a little research on how to frag zoanthids. It's not hard to do. Also read about the palytoxin that they have because in some species it can be quite dangerous so you just need to be aware of it & take the appropriate precautions. Not a big deal if you handle them safely, though. Are you able to take the while rock out of your tank? If so, I would think your lfs would have no problem trading you another rock of equal size with no corals on it.
I really don't see why you are so bothered about 1 adult polyp that is growing well & having babies. This is what the rest of us want, lol.

Let them grow out and frag them to sell or trade. All you need is a razor blade,Superglue and frag plugs or small pieces off rock to glue them on to after you cut the zoanthids off the rock there on now.

lol I didn't realize that I may be blessed instead of cursed lol. I am going to do some research, because some new info has been brought to my attention. They may not be zoas they may be something different, something starting with a P. I am currently researching. Thanks all!

If u mean Paly, it's basically the same just bigger. Fragging would be simple as you can just cut/chip into the rock under them.

Be happy you have growth, you must be doing something right. If you don't really want them and don't want to frag them you can take the rock out and use gel super glue to cover what you don't want. It's way uglier than having some zoas in your tank though!

The first picture you posted is aptasia. Its something you don't want in your tank. No worries though it can easily be removed. A couple ways I know to get rid of them is to use a solution called aptisia-X. Also pepermint shrimp, and nudibranches are suppost to help clear it up.

The second picture are polyps.

Yes the many small ones are aptesia. Get rid of them...

Yep, just to confirm what the others have said, the single ones are aiptasia. They are a pest and will spread and grow. Do a search on here about them and you will see there a several different ways to try and get rid of them. Not all solutions work for all people.

Sorry man, but I only saw your second picture when we first discussed this. Those first ones are the dreaded aiptasia. If they are only on the one rock, you are lucky. I would pull that rock out and chisel the rock out underneath the aiptasia (or get rid of the rock if it is not large).

aiptasia for sure do something to get rid of them or they will spread like wildfire

the second pic looks like polys. i have tons of them too. couldnt get rid of them and they r stinging and killing my sps.
