looks like lots of you with the JBJ 28g have the Vortec MP 10.
I dont have one and I seem to have a lot of flow already. Am I missing something here? :uhoh2:
Also, not knocking anyone who owns an MP10, I just want to know, how is this circulation pump so far superior to the 30 dollar internal propeller-driven circulation pumps such as the Hydor Koralia?

Smaller in tank footprint, no electrical cord in the tank, fully controllable from idle to 100%, multitude of running mode options, low voltage DC motor, no heat added to your water since the motor is on the outside, the list goes on.

and it pushes ALOT of water for being so small. Definatly worth every penny. there are a bunch of different modes u can run it in also.

Ok, fair enough, but then this begs the question: with the flow rates inherent through a 28g JBJ, is a circulation pump like this necessary?

It all depends on what u plan on keeping. if its a softie only tank i would say u dont need one, but if u are going to keep sps its def a good choice. otherwise you would end up puting 2 small korillas in there and they take up room and add a bit of heat to your tank.

I have 2 in my BC29 to create alternating flow. I am also SPS heavy so I need more flow.
Each tank is different to what is needed flow wise.

Ive got a small hammer coral down low which is already unhappy with the amount of current, but I want more SPS up high. I think I'll just get a couple of hydor koralias and put them on opposite sides of the tank, and run them on the wave maker that came with my JBJ.
