View Full Version : What is this? Medusa worm? Algae? Dino?

I have some localized 'threads' appearing in the bottom of my tank.
They don't seem to be in the water column, but rather spreading across the sand (and on a frag).

I thought it was a medusa/spaghetti worm at first, but after seeing it on the zoa frag I can see that it is not.
I hope it's just some goofy type of algae, but I would expect it to proliferate differently if it was.
The same goes for if it was dinoflagellates. I would expect them to be everywhere and on everything.

Please see the video below and help me figure out what it is
...and how to treat it!

Thanks,
Tom

How old is that tank? Looks like Diatoms. I know you say relatively new, so thats what I'm going with, your LR doesn't even have any color in it yet. Diatom Bloom

At this point it's about 3 months old.
Everything in it came from either dry (rock/sand), mix saltwater, or was dipped.
I had Dinos before and it sucked.

Thanks for the link Cloak.

I'd go with some type of algae. Seems stringy, but doesn't really look like dino.
